Well, here we go — first post! I guess this is the digital version of saying, “Is this thing on?”
If you’ve somehow landed here, you’re probably part of my generation — the Gen X crew that has lived through cassette tapes, dial-up internet, and the great caffeine-and-fast-food diet of our youth. And now, here we are: trying to balance real life, real bodies, and real wellness in a world that never slows down.
Why This Space Exists
I started Gen X Real Wellness after noticing something — midlife doesn’t come with an instruction manual. My husband and I hit that stage where things like blood pressure, cholesterol, and “what even is my metabolism doing?” started becoming regular topics at the doctor’s office.
For us, the wake-up call wasn’t dramatic, but it was real. A few too many “we’ll get to that later” moments had stacked up. Eventually, we realized later had arrived. So we started paying attention — to food choices, movement, sleep, and stress — without trying to turn our lives upside down.
Real Wellness, Not Perfection
That’s where the idea of real wellness came from. It’s not about quitting everything and living on kale smoothies. It’s about finding small, doable habits that help your body and mind work better — for the life you actually live.
Sometimes that means taking a walk instead of a workout. Sometimes it means staying on medication while you work on lifestyle changes. It’s not one-size-fits-all, and it’s definitely not about guilt.
I’ll share what’s helped us — things like making slightly healthier meals, moving more without “training for anything,” and exploring holistic options while still respecting medical advice. Always follow your doctor’s recommendations, but know that you have so much power to make small changes that matter.

Topics You’ll See Here
This site will cover all kinds of midlife wellness topics — because let’s be honest, it’s never just one thing. Expect posts about:
- Real-world healthy recipes (no 20-ingredient lists required)
- Organ health, blood pressure, and balancing cholesterol naturally
- Mental wellness and stress management
- Midlife humor (because if we don’t laugh, we’ll cry)
- Organic and natural product finds
- Journaling and other small mindset resets
Basically — a little bit of everything that helps Gen X thrive without pretending we’re still 25.
What You Can Expect
I’ll be sharing articles, thoughts, and small steps that fit into real life — not some impossible routine. My goal is to make this space a friendly corner for encouragement, ideas, and the reminder that progress counts.
I’ll also be linking to a few of my favorite tools and products that make healthy living simpler. Some of those may be affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. It helps support the site and keeps the coffee flowing, so thank you for that.
Also… Coming Soon: Books for Real Wellness
I’m currently working on a few upcoming books that dive deeper into real wellness—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Think of them as simple, supportive companions for your midlife journey, filled with encouragement, doable habits, recipes and reflections that meet you right where you are. Stay tuned for updates and sneak peeks as these projects come to life!
Here are a few of my Faith leaning Wellness books 👇 touching on Scrolling Addiction and how to break free and Starting to work out with Encouragement, well, when you haven’t foreverrr… I’ve been guilty of that! and an easy Journal… ✍️
